An Evening At The New Barnt Green Inn | AD

I never turn down an excuse to go out for good food and company: An evening spent at The Barnt Green Inn is exactly this. I was very kindly invited to the reopening of The Barnt Green Inn last week to try out their brand new menu, drinks and take in their gorgeous new interior.

I haven't been to The Barnt Green Inn for a very long time so I couldn't remember what the it used to look like, but I was very impressed at the gorgeous interiors, layout and the vast amount of space available. As you walk in the entrance you are greeted by a large bar: filled with a vast amount of drinks on offer and even a Gin creation space. 

To the left is a large seating area, filled with comfortable yet beautiful sofas, bar stools and large party areas. Loads of room for small and big gatherings. The huge open spaces made it very comfortable and cosy: the perfect space for those wanting to go out for drinks and catch ups with friends. 

The bathrooms...Now I am not normally one to review the toilets but if I don't mention them I would be doing the renovation a dis-service. They are both beautiful and unique. 

For those who really know what they like with their alcohol, The Gin making station is the perfect extra to your drinking experience. I, obviously, went for a non-alcoholic drink but mom was tempted into a Gin. But for both of us, we were able to personalise our drinks to our liking: from a mix of fruits, spices, syrups and herbs. 

I think this would be great for those who want to create their perfect drink or those wanting a whole new drinking experience with each sip.

Once we had our drinks in the beautiful seating area, we headed to the large dining room. It was a full dining room but each table was spaced out perfectly to give each table loads of private space. The seating areas were so comfortable, great for my heavily pregnant self. 

The All Day Menu had lots to pick from: suitable for the fussy eater like myself and the adventurous eater like my mom. 

To give us extra time to read over the menu, Oysters were brought to the table. My mom has always wanted to try these so it was a real treat for her, not sure I would have said the same but she really enjoyed them.

To start, Mom and I, decided to share a Wild Mushroom, Prosciutto, Creme Fraiche and Parmigiano Reggiano Pizzette: There was a range of gorgeous starters on offer and different style Pizzette's but this one grabbed our attention straight away. 

The bread was so fresh and the toppings were beautifully paired together. I could have easily eaten the whole thing as a main meal but it was lovely to share. We both really enjoyed it, a lovely start to the food waiting ahead.

Now onto the mains. I opted for the Dirty Cheeseburger with crispy bacon, lashings of cheese and burger sauce with beef dripping dip and skinny fries, The sign of a good restaurant is a good burger. I have had this same burger at another restaurant which was glorious, I was hoping that it would give me the same experience. It was BEAUTIFUL. 

The cheese sauce on the burger was almost like the sauce you get with nachos at the cinema, it was so smooth and gooey without being too overwhelming. The bacon was so crispy and the fresh salad gave it a lovely crunch compared to the smooth cheese.

The skinny fries were really crispy and fluffy at the same time and the beef dripping sauce was so lovely, it gave a whole new flavour compared to the burger.

When it comes to going to to dinner, Mom and I always pick completely different food. I am not a fish person what so ever but my mom loves seafood: she opted for the Sea Bass Fillet & Charred Octopus with Baby potatoes, tomato & lemon aioli, samphire and baby spinach.

In all honesty I don't think my mom was expecting an actual Octopus tentacle to come out on her plate. She said the Sea Bass was beautifully cooked and paired well with the Octopus. Both were soft and tender to eat and the veg was a perfect accompaniment. Not something I would ever choose but she really enjoyed it.

Onion rings and Mac and Cheese were picked as extras for the table, would be rude not too, but they were both very very good. I know for a fact my son Rupert would love the Mac and Cheese for a main.

Dessert, Possibly the best part of the evening. Mom had the Sticky Toffee Pudding and I had the Caramel Creme Brûlée (as always). 

The Sticky Toffee Pudding was perfectly balanced with the ice cream and banana, a generous portion size. A great finisher to the meal. 

The Creme Brûlée was a very large portion, no complaints. The Caramel flavour was very subtle but perfect against the custard base, The hard sugared top was so crunchy. It was a lovely end to the meal.

The Barnt Green Inn was a spectacular evening with gorgeous food, lovely drinks and beautiful decor. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to to make our evening special. I would highly recommend going there to anyone, perfect for families, friends and date nights. 

The outdoor area was large, well lit and had a vast amount of seating areas: great for when it starts to heat up outside. 

A wonderful evening overall.
